Not knowing the Law isn't an excuse for breaking it
Make sure your HR/ WHS Paperwork is legally compliant.
So you have a small business, you may have one or two employees, several contracts and things are going smoothly. But one day, one of your employees has an injury at work and you have Workplace Health and Safety on your doorstep asking to see Risk Assessments, Job Safety Analysis, Hierarchy of Controls, Safe Work Procedures and you have no clue what they are asking for.
You are feeling helpless, worrying that this business you have spent so much time and money pouring into is going to go belly up. You thought with two employees you didn't have to go into the finer details. But unfortunately that is not the case.
When it comes to employment issues there are a lot of legal requirements around human resources and workplace health and safety as well as industrial relations. There are issues you can't afford to get wrong. A critical mistake can cost you tens of thousands of dollars, or even more.
Poorly worded contracts lacks of records, absent policies, and failure to follow legal procedures are not matters that are taken lightly. Especially in this day and age where everyone's Aunt recommends suing when something doesn't go right. Make sure your business is covered by ensuring you dot all the I's and cross all the T's.
Clear, professional, legally secure communication is ESSENTIAL in all your contracts and policies.
This is why I will be launching the Document Library with clear guidelines of what is needed as a small to medium business. There will be a variety of templates available for every industry regardless of the size of your company. It will lead you step by step to ensure your business is covered.
